DESCRIPTION:Thursday 27 August 2020\nBusselton Hospital \nPROMPT (PRactical Obstetric Multi-Professional Training) will continue to be delivered to several WACHS sites in 2020. \nPROMPT is an evidence-based\, multi-professional obstetric training package for all clinicians required to respond to obstetric emergencies in maternity hospitals. SUMMARY:Webinar: The ORCHID Study (Optimisation of Rural Clinical and Haematological Indicators of Diabetes)
DESCRIPTION:The South West Health Research Collaborative (SWHRC) invites you to join us for a webinar on Thursday 3 September 2020 from 12pm – 1pm. \nHost: Dianne Ritson\, CEO\, Lishman Health Foundation\nChair: Professor Gary Geelhold\, Executive Director of the Western Australian Health Telehealth Translation Network (WAHTN)\nPresenters: Dr Andrew Kirke and Emma Jamieson – South West Gestational Diabetes Research Team \nRegister here. \nDue to the potential to improve birth outcomes for mothers and babies\, screening for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)\, defined as high blood sugar levels first detected in pregnancy\, is recommended for pregnant women. The recommended oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is difficult to complete\, requiring women to fast overnight\, consume a sugar drink and have three blood tests over two hours. The ORCHID study found that despite completing other antenatal investigations\, half of pregnant women from rural and remote WA did not have an OGTT\, with Aboriginal women even less likely to be screened.\nHear about the findings of this study from Bunbury GP\, Dr Andrew Kirke and the ORCHID study team. \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. \nThe SWHRC is dedicated to maintaining contact with health professionals and investigators who have a strong interest in regional health research\, including those who registered to attend the South West Health Research Forum. Please share the webinar link with your colleagues and networks.
