• BREC Winter Film Festival

    In our 27th year of hosting independent cinema BREC along with our partners, are proud to present this year’s line-up, which includes a mix of festival favourites and award-winning films from the world’s most celebrated independent film-makers. The festival opens Thursday 27th June with three sessions running each day, Thursdays to Saturdays and two sessions screening on Sundays with the festival closing 7th July.

  • Harvey Community NAIDOC Celebration

    Community groups and organisations have collaborated to provide the first 6 day NAIDOC Celebration of Indigenous culture and history. There will be different events on each of the 6 days with all day all week Indigenous art and artefacts displays, Department of Parks and Wildlife native display, displays by local schools, audio and visual activities and much more. Individual events include a street parade, official Flag Raising and Welcome To Country ceremonies, Bush Tucker and Bush Medicine workshops, family day with movies and kids activities, kangaroo stew with damper, library and craft corner, traditional Aboriginal dance troupe, Noongar Sports activities.

    The 2019 Aboriginal Health Conference Kids on Country, will emphasise the importance of children and youth in Aboriginal communities and provide a forum to exchange ideas on the key issues relating to the health of Aboriginal children. To continue to aim for health equity for Aboriginal children and communities, health professionals need an enhanced understanding of culturally competent care and the links between the environment and the health of Aboriginal children.   • Diabetes Telehealth | Hypoglycaemia webinar

    For people with diabetes who use insulin, the fear of hypoglycaemia can influence their decisions around target BGLs and exercise. Managing hypos can reduce both short term and long term effects of diabetes. This session will discuss causes and treatment of hypos, but most importantly, how to prevent it.
