Diabetes in pregnancy Presented by Marina Mickleson, Midwife, CDE, NP at KEMH Marina provides a regional diabetes education telehealth service for women with Gestational Diabetes and pregnant women with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes. This session will provide information on what needs to be considered for women with diabetes who are planning to become pregnant. It will cover the services that King Edward Memorial Hospital provide as well as look at the information that health providers can promote in women with diabetes who are of child bearing age.

Presented by Nikki Cummings, Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Accredited Nutritionist Grad Diploma in Dietetics, PhD Nikki currently works at Wexford Gastroenterology and has over 20 years experience as a Dietitian. She has specialist interest and further training in the field of Gastroenterology, pre- and post-Bariatric surgery nutritional management and also works as an Eating Disorder specialist at The Hollywood Clinic, Nedlands. Nikki will be discussing the different types of bariatric surgery available, the potential impact on diabetes management and the importance of post operative nutritional advice and support.

Back to basics- a session on diabetes for novice health professionals Presented by Nyaree Lawler, CDE, RN, Diabetes WA This session is for novice health professionals, or health professionals who are less confident about their knowledge of diabetes. It will cover; what is diabetes, the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, how do the different classes of diabetes medications work.
